Breakout star, and not necessarily in a good way, at Wednesday night’s 12-12-12 concert at Madison Square Garden to benefit the Robin Hood Fund for Hurricane Sandy victims? Kanye West’s black leather skirt, reportedly designed by Givenchy, which the rapper wore layered over a pair of skinny leather pants and topped with a black hoodie.

The Twittersphere ran amok with comments, and the skirt spawned its very own Twitter account, @kanyesskirt,  garnering more than 1,200 followers.  The “skirt” tweeted “Nothing but the finest pleather money can buy. Yeah, i'm fly.”  While many poked fun at it, some pondered its meaning. “Not sure whether # KanyesSkirt is a brilliant affront 2the traditional heterosexist machismo of hip hop or simply wack fashion # 121212concert,” wrote Twitter user @KBDPHD.

Some wondered if it was plucked from girlfriend Kim Kardashian’s closet.  The question remains open, though Kardashian apparently liked her guy in the look, tweeting, “Awwwwwwww I'm so excited right now!!!!! He looks so cute!!.”
