Lacoste’s artistic director, Felipe Oliveira Baptista, has been infusing a cool, new groove into the iconic brand since he took over design duties in September 2010 and his show at the tents on Saturday morning was the freshest yet.

Inspired, said notes, by France’s national ski team in 1966 and photographs of a mountain motoring expedition from the 1930s, the cohesive collection was athletic, smart and chic and would be at home as easily at a ski resort as in a city club.

A black leather minidress was va-va-voom, featuring zippered arms that turned it sleeveless. You'll want to be super fit for second-skin sweater dresses, though looser coats – all great – are more forgiving.

Racing-striped leggings in preppy colors are wardrobe building blocks here and smashing when topped with any number of cozy sweaters, some with those graphic zippers.

There were tweedy trompe l’oeil prints on many separates and shoes included gutsy leather platforms. Oh, yes, and hardly an alligator logo in sight.

Baptista’s runway was dramatically staged with three gigantic snow rectangles and it literally began snowing white feathers as the show began. We’re still wearing that “snow” in our hair – next time we'll bring a hat.
