Michael Kors is in a “sunshine state of mind” for spring, and the vibe was definitely relaxed on his runway, which was backed by a giant wall of leaves. The concept – melding breezy, beachy clothes with the sophisticated veneer of city slick – was executed to a T.

Models in wind-tousled ponytails wore loose trousers (in gauze), slouchy cardigans (of cotton rope), sarongs (in silk jersey) mostly in natural shades of hemp, cloud and white.

But girls like a little color now and then, and Kors obliged, planting a few lush shades in the collection – zinnia, daffodil, iris and grass green. A tiered little iris chiffon dress and shredded taffeta skirts exuded charm. Notable, an almost total absence of black, a rarity for the designer.

And to emphasize the mellow ‘tude, not a high heel in sight, rather "flatform" wedges – aaah. Kors, who has said, “I’m really a beach bum at heart,” showed his true colors, though he couldn’t resist a tiny bit of bling – a crystal-beaded pajama pant, paired with a cashmere sweatshirt.
