Michael Kors is Mr. Clean

Primary colors, graphic stripes and slim silhouettes were the hallmarks of Michael Kors' runway at his Wednesday show, where A-list stars such Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones watched, rapt, while Kors delivered his spring message: Pare it down, keep it sharp and make it sexy.

And just how pared down are we talking? A '60s mod sort — with an upbeat vibe. Think a black-and-white-striped broadcloth blazer over a matching short with a belly-baring cashmere bandeau (when we say it’s crunch time — we mean it!) A narrow palm green reefer coat popped.

Not everything was quite as spare. A few looks, such as a navy or white stretch leather shift were covered with open grommets; a gorgeous gold/white paillette shell (with pockets even) topped white crepe shorts.

Besides the stripes, there were lovely digital cloud-streaked sky and pool prints — we loved the cloud shantung trouser.

But best of all were the final series of double-face slithers — gowns that hugged every curve and featured sizzling hot halter and harness cutouts. Karlie Kloss wore the last one. The guy next to us murmured, “Holyyy-eeee.” And sighed deeply.
