Even with my toes about to freeze, I had to give Moncler Grenoble credit Sunday night.

The outerwear brand's show at Central Park's Wollman Ice Rink wasn't its first New York Fashion Week spectacle — they produced a flash mob in Grand Central Station last February — but it was a pretty smart way to sell coats.

In fact, as I stood watching the choreographed skaters in their Moncler gear, listening to the Harlem Boys Choir sing Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York," sipping my hot apple cider and watching the beautiful city scene unfold, there was absolutely nothing I wanted more than one of those big, warm, puffy jackets.

Cruel, maybe, but an intelligent business tactic, indeed.
