Nanette Lepore’s space travel

You expect Nanette Lepore to have some kind of boho-vintagey vibe going on at her shows, but on Wednesday at the tents she took a more futuristic stance: she was inspired by the Mars Rover.
We loved the iridescent textured top shown beneath a black wool coat and set off by a Space Age hologram handbag and shoes. And high tech jackets and coats that looked like leather were actually coated wool -- so smart. As has been the case on many a runway (too many truthfully), there was loads of black … a perfect LBD that will be a wardrobe go-to. A refreshing break from all that black came in the form of a dark violet coat worn over a sparkly striped sweater and matching skirt. Beam us up.
