New high-end skin spa opens in Roslyn Heights

Don't let the glamorous appearance of Truth + Beauty fool you. The new med spa at what's becoming something of a wellness mecca in Roslyn Heights is all business when it comes to skin.
"It's like a gym for your skin," says self-proclaimed "beauty junkie" Cori Goldfarb, 45, the founder and creative director of the spa, which took more than three years to develop and build. "I wanted there to be a high end, one-stop shopping spot on Long Island for beauty needs from lipstick to lasers," says Goldfarb.
The 5,000- square-foot space (250 S. Service Rd., where Soul Cycle and The Bar Method have been toning bods for about a year) is stunning: serene colors, plush furniture, rustic, wide-plank wood floors.
But most striking (and not necessarily in a good way) is your "moment of truth" with a personal beauty coach (yup, we said "coach"). Your face gets analyzed in a high-tech digital machine that reveals your flaws including wrinkles, brown spots, sun damage and pore size. On a Youtube video, reality star Bethenny Frankel jokingly asks if there's a therapist on staff after she gets her results. It's tough stuff.
The coach (ours, a 20-something nurse type with flawless skin) recommends treatments, procedures and products (sold in the retail section of the spa) to improve and repair. It might be a deep peel or one of seven state-of-the-art lasers. Maybe it's Botox or a concoction of facial fillers administered by New York-based facial plastic surgeon Jennifer Levine, who schedules visits there and says, "I'm not going for adequate. I'm going for beautiful." Sometimes it isn't about the face at all. Fat melting (think muffin tops) by way of Liposonix, a high- intensity ultrasound treatment, is already popular.
Prices run the gamut. A standard facial peel is $150, fat melting starts at $2,000, and skin tightening goes from $800 to $4,500. There are cosmetic treatments such as eyebrow shaping ($35), spray tanning ($50 for full body) and eyelash extensions ($300) along with makeup applications. But, of the rigorous treatments, Goldfarb says, "There's nothing fluffy here. We're disrupting your dermis. You are going to get a result."
