Nicholas K work may have needed an edit

Sister and brother design team Nicole and Christopher Kunz drew inspiration from aerial scapes for their spring 2012 show, hence the sea-inspired colors: conch, algae, barnacle, kelp and – our favorite – a steely black called “whale."
The result? A sort of nomad-meets-the-big-city affair, featuring some terrific outerwear – light cropped leathers, sleek trenches and hip anoraks. There were some dreamy dresses in tie-dye often worn with shorts or over sheer leggings – all sort of ethereal.
But while layering techniques were interesting, in some cases they went too far – with swoops of fabric poking out from “where-the-heck-did-that-come-from” places. An edit may have been in order.
