Nicole Miller makes 'mean' look oh, so good

Nicole Miller has been dabbling in tough-girl chic for the past few seasons, but for Fall 2010 she went full-throttle with a hard-edged, sportswear-based collection.
Miller wrote in program notes that this collection was, “ready for the urban jungle.”
In this mostly black collection -- a definite runway trend -- models in ski caps were long, lean and yes, mean, strutting in a selection of roughed-up leather coats, super-skinny leggings and tiny, body-hugging dresses that were intricately twist-pleated, some with patterned insets or a random patch of embellishment.
We swooned for the cushy asymmetrical cashmere sweaters, and a couple of midnight blue and black combos were stellar. Prints were a rarity: a sweetened camouflage, a graffiti pattern and a photographic cityscape.
Mean girls never looked so good.
