No, he didn’t salsa — but NY Giants superstar Victor Cruz sure wielded a mean pair of jumbo scissors at the ribbon-cutting ceremony to open Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center on Wednesday.

“Um, excuse my throat — I kinda lost my voice at the parade,” said Cruz, as shouts of “Go Giants!” came from a pack of photographers.

The wide receiver, who rode up the Canyon of Heroes in Tuesday’s ticker-tape parade in honor the Super Bowl-winning Giants, appeared reserved and soft-spoken at the opening of Fashion Week, which starts tomorrow and showcases the fall collections of top designers.

“It has been a big week for New York,” announced Peter Levy, SVP and managing director of IMG Fashion, which runs the event. “It’s great to have a huge star like Victor,” Levy said, adding that he hoped to see Cruz sitting front row at a few fashion shows.

“It’s always been my dream to be here,” Cruz replied.

Well, nice of you to say so, Vic’, though that seems as unlikely as teammate Ahmad Bradshaw’s butt-first touchdown.

Then again—the company here isn’t bad. That hot blonde model Kate Upton—who stood alongside Cruz as he cut the red ribbon—has gotta smell a lot nicer than Mario Manningham.
