MORNING SONGS: There’s a lot of griping at New York Fashion Week — the crowds, the lines, the locations — but sometimes a designer makes it so fun that all is forgotten. Like having Rufus Wainwright perform — which is what happened at Michael Kors’ Wednesday morning show. Wainwright, accompanied by an orchestra, performed upbeat Judy Garland songs as Kors’ models jaunted down the runway. He closed the show with “Get Happy,” which Garland performed in the 1950 film “Summer Stock.” Rather than his traditionally energetic runway romp, Kors met Wainwright center stage, waved, and off the dynamic duo went. Happy, indeed. — ANNE BRATSKEIR

DOING THE WAVE: Sami Gayle was looking seriously glam — her hair in an elaborate updo — at the Monique Lhuillier show. “It took about an hour to pull the whole hairstyle together, and I couldn’t believe it,” Gayle said. “I told the stylist—my hair is stick-straight. I don’t get how he did it.” The actress, who plays Tom Selleck’s rambunctious granddaughter, Nicky, on “Blue Bloods,” is in the midst of shooting the show’s seventh season, which debuts Sept. 23. Last season her character was kidnapped, so now she’s “dealing with the aftermath of all that, and it’s kind of a tough time,” Gayle said, not wanting to give too much away. As for non-Nicky projects, her eyes lit up when she mentioned the possibility of starring in a new film, written by her brother. “It’s a high school drama but a lot more. And we hope to start shooting, well maybe next year?” Hey, as many women know, if you can get your stick-straight hair to be wavy, anything’s possible. — JOSEPH V. AMODIO
