Oscar-worthy dresses at Tadashi Shoji
Stark sculptural trees propped Tadashi Shoji’s dramatic presentation at the tents, where models stood in vignettes wearing ethereal gowns that many a movie star may covet.
The designer, who in program notes said he was inspired by Renaissance frescoes, went for a neutral color palette (the strongest was muted lavender) and called the show “an homage to 15th century elegance and romance.” Despite the tiers of chiffon, bolts of lace and bouquets of fabric flowers, it was all quite subdued and quietly sophisticated. Bet we’ll see you on the red carpet.
