From fun pool floats to beach totes: A summer shopping guide
Summer is made for kicking back at beaches and pools — and Long Island stores are swimming with popular and trendy items to add a splash of style, comfort and fun to your R&R time.
Since opening their new backyard pool in April, Sloane Grober, along with her husband, Mark, and their three young kids, has gone off the deep end for playful floats. Their inflatable fleet features almost every shape under the sun — cherries, watermelons, tigers, swans, rainbows and other clever designs. “The more colorful the floats, the better, and the more the merrier,” says Sloane, 32, a retail consultant. “The kids love them. I do too.”
Michelle Russo’s favorite new summer accessory is a canvas-fringed beach bag that holds her sunglasses, towel, visor and SPF. She’s customized the catchall she found at Hitch in Babylon with a to-the-point message, CIAO, that speaks for itself.
“I like to shop locally,” says Russo, 29, a social media and web design pro in Massapequa. “It’s fun, it’s quirky, it’s supercute.”
