Rebecca Minkoff hearts Ewan McGregor
Rebecca Minkoff has a thing for Ewan McGregor—or, at least, his 2004 documentary, “Long Way Round,” about his adventurous, round-the-world motorcycle trip. She’d recast it, however, with her own customer as star, clad in pieces from this fall collection that flaunt a certain femininity, sure, but also plenty of swagger.
Minkoff was inspired by “a girl with moxie,” she writes in her program, and offers that woman a vivid palette—like the bright, jewel tone “galaxy” print pants, or spicy mustard tweed trousers paired with a luxe, lamb bomber.
For more fuel-injected power, she throws into the mix motocross pants with racing stripes down the side, and other dramatic details: a knit dress with open back, a draped dress with fur epaulettes, and that “Yeti” bomber with humongo-size hood.
The collection looks like souvenirs snapped up on McGregor’s journey, which took him from Europe, across Russia and Mongolia, and over to North America. Trouble is, with all that Old World tweed and brocade, the Asian-influenced origami pieces, and the jumbo Yeti wear worthy of a Siberian winter, there’d be nowhere to pack it all on a Harley. Luckily, you can order up yours online.
