Rebecca Taylor goes for layers, layers, layers
Rebecca Taylor expects you to bundle up—we’re talking serious layers—next fall. Of course, if you start with her characteristically light-weight, filmy dresses (this season they’re shirtdresses mostly in sheer, flowing chiffon), then you’re gonna need some major outerwear.
So she suggests tossing on a quilted leather jacket, then topping that with a navy wool bomber with cinched-up sleeves. Or how about a quilted leather vest over a herringbone blazer over a color-blocked sweater? Just to be safe. And cozy.
Classics are amped up a notch or two—like a shift dress done in Bordeaux leather, a navy boucle jacket with leather fringe, or leggings—in perforated leather or studded with nail heads.
In past seasons, the New Zealand native has opted for glisteny palettes reminiscent of water, or starry skies, but the look here is heavier, dark, snuggled. Even her leopard print coat is an ombre version, charcoal on top and slowly hinting at leopard below. It’s a refreshing take on what can be a tired, clichéd print.
