Shoppers flock to the Americana for FNO
It was a busy scene on Tuesday night at the Americana in Manhasset where shoppers from all over descended upon the swanky center to celebrate Fashion’s Night Out and they did it with style and a special cocktail, called, natch, a “new fashion," (this a take on the classic old fashioned).
The restaurant Toku was FNO central. Curbside, a comfy lounge was constructed just for the evening and makeup artists from Beauty Bar provided women with pro lipstick touchups using a wild new lipstick line called “Exude.”
But lipstick, drinks and food aside, more than 200 women came to see what they’ll be wearing this season – right now -- with fashions by Bottega Veneta, Alexander McQueen (from Hirshleifers), Fendi, Gucci and more being modeled informally throughout dinner.
So, how did it compare to FNO in NYC? “I’ve been to both,” said Lisette Archondo of Brooklyn. “And I like this better. It’s kind of cozy and relaxed rather than the craziness of the city. Added Susan Zweiner of Port Washington, “This is like my second home.” Did she plan to buy anything? “If there’s something really fabulous.”
We saw an amazing feather skirt that maybe had her name on it.
