We're not sure of the exact moment when Black Friday became a two-day affair, spilling over into Thanksgiving and cutting short holiday festivities, but your holiday shopping opportunities are now shrinking. BestBlackFriday.com reports that by Oct. 1, more than 50 stores had already announced they will remain closed this year, allowing employees -- and those of us who suffer from Fear of Missing Out -- to enjoy family, friends and football instead of fighting crowds at the mall. The organization expects at least another 25 will join their ranks before the holiday.

These local retailers have announced they will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Check back for updates as the season progresses.
