Tadashi Shoji Fall 2014
The inspiration: A moonlit Moorish Palace, ornate architectural details and “the mystery of romance and yesteryear.”
The vibe: Special occasion dresses across the boards with definite red carpet flair – ladylike, feminine but not overly frothy. A new focus on youthfulness, though there was still stuff for mothers-of-the-bride.
The lust-o-meter: Terrific laser-cut microsuede sheath mini dresses – knockout in flame and navy. A grande dame cape featuring crewelwork and embroidery, a lush cobalt strapless gown with hand-beading detail, a black velvet T-shirt over a sparkling embellished tulle and diamond-shaped knit floor-length skirt.
Eh: An overly ruffled top on a dress kind of read like hair, and a few of the long-sleeved, loose lace jobs were a tad mumsy.
Our take: Really lovely dresses and gowns overall and a sure shot for the red carpet.
