These boots are made for walking
While models have a lot in common with one another – tall, slim, beautiful (you get it) – they’re not known for wearing the same shoes. But some 40 of ‘em, big names like Coco Rocha and Michelle Alves – are storming the city streets during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Nine West’s military-inspired limited-edition boots.
They look great, but it’s not just a fashion gimmick. It’s part of Nine West’s Runway Relief Program. Each pair of boots is outfitted with a pedometer that tracks the steps the models take from fittings to castings to after parties. For every mile they walk, the company donates $10 to the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Fashion Targets Breast Cancer. A company spokeswoman estimates the models will tread enough to raise 75K for the charity. Whoo-eee.
Here's the kicker: The boots – a rugged combo of worn leather and antique pewter hardware – are made for walking. We test-drove a pair – pretty fab and comfy, too. They’re available nationwide for $199. To learn more about the boots and the program, check out www.ninewest.com/runwayrelief.
