Although some designers use every trick up their sleeves to wow the crowds at New York Fashion Week, Tibi designer Amy Smilovic keeps it simple.

Her Spring 2012 collection consisted of polished workwear fun enough to be worn out of the office but low-key enough for an effortless sophistication. The collection stuck to its theme, though it played with rich golds and emerald greens in between black-and-white looks, pairing formal shorts with neat blazers and wide-leg pants with silky tops.

It may not have been jaw-dropping, but, unlike other red-carpet-ready stunners that have graced the runway this week, it was a collection New York women can actually wear. It was something that could be seen on Sophia Bush, Olivia Palermo and Emma Roberts in the front row, on any of the women standing in the back or on those walking to work on the busy streets outside. Sometimes, in the crazy world of high fashion, it pays to keep it real.
