Every so often, you hear about someone discovering a new gemstone. But a metal? Tiffany has done just that. In honor of its 175th anniversary, the jeweler introduces Rubedo, named for a level in alchemy when "matter and spirit fuse to create something of rare beauty."
Combining the richness of gold, the brilliance of silver and the warmth of copper, it can be found in pieces from Tiffany's 1837 designs, including a thick cuff, $7,500, a small pendant of Rubedo/silver interlocking circles, $275, and a bar pendant, $200. All the designs carry the signature of company founder Charles Lewis Tiffany.
