Sleek, mod black-and-white dresses. And retro, quirky novelty tees. A sweet, figure-skimming peplum top. And rugged, ripped denim. This spring, women's wardrobes will be a study in contrasts.
But if there's one item that'll carry you through, it's this: the sharp tailored jacket.
"That's the punctuation point of the season," says Bloomingdale's fashion director Stephanie Solomon. You'll need it to dress up a slew of sporty, high-velocity spring trends -- whether you pair it with a flirty tennis dress, a pair of matching shorts, an embellished sweatshirt or a graphic, novelty tee.
Call it "sporty chic," says Solomon -- a way to dress up normally casual or weekend looks and make them office appropriate (depending on your office, of course) or ready for a night out.
That's one of several new trends retailers are betting on for spring. We surveyed fashion experts for some of the looks they're loving. Here's what's in store.
