The Walt Whitman Shops in Huntington Station welcomed its latest addition Thursday-- the first U.S. store for Triumph lingerie.
The vintage, European vibe makes the spot that much sexier-- the company started with six seamstresses in a barn in Germany in 1886 and its heritage is reflected all over the store in black and white photos of lingerie-wearing beauties and displays of old-fashioned looks pulled from their archives.
The current selection of bras, panties, shapewear and nightwear is a modern twist on some of their classics, in soft tones, delicate fabrics and feminine silhouettes. Particularly of note is the ultra-flattering and surprisingly lightweight shapewear, made with Italian microfiber and a patented technology that focuses on the body's pressure points for optimal comfort.
Not really a fancy undergarments type of lady? A selection of spacer cup bras for everyday wear mold expertly to the body, and the Amourette 300, a classic padded lace bra, has a fan following in Europe.
The staff puts a strong emphasis on its comfortable and accurate fitting process, and its dressing rooms (they call them "mirror rooms") are outfitted with the best quality mirrors, soft lighting and chic decor. A larger VIP room is reserved for brides-to-be, who can bring in their gowns to test how the lingerie will look underneath.
The average bra goes for $58 (they start at $38) and shapewear pieces range from $52 to $72, with full-body pieces hitting around $90. Triumph will follow its Walt Whitman opening with a second (larger) U.S. store at Roosevelt Field mall Sept. 22. E-commerce will be available to U.S. shoppers starting in November.
