Co-designers Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai were inspired by Memphis — not the city of Elvis fame, but the 1980s design movement all about geometric shapes, bright colors and sticking it to mainstream, stodgy trends. So you might expect hodgepodge, neon color blocks. Y’know — ’80s. But nothing was too loud. A vivid poppy ankle-length skirt is kept in check by a spare, taupe blouse. Most looks relied on neutrals: a greige one-piece with fishnet back, a sexy cream leather bustier, or pale chartreuse culottes. (Yep.) As for the oversize MC Hammer blouse (worn with overalls) or gauze paper-bag pants—guess it’s “Hammer-time.” Again.
