Victoria Beckham relaxes

Early AM at an Upper East Side mansion, Victoria Beckham, pony-tailed and pregnant and wearing one of her own dresses – an oversized cashmere jumper – informs us, “I’ve expanded, grown, evolved after six seasons. I’m more comfortable in my own skin. And I want to give women the freedom to look beautiful and feel comfortable.”

To that end, models, makeup lacquered and like mannequins in black woolen strap hats, paraded Beckham’s easier silhouettes – we said easier – though some are still whippet slim. And Beckham, who numbers her dresses, presented the 100th – the epitome of her style – a saffron crepe collared number.

New were some ankle-length frocks, coats, deceptively simple, some with belted collars, others with asymmetrical pleating, and bags, structured croc jobs and slouch duffels. There were definitely more relaxed silos – a honeycomb mini was easy wearing and cool. Beckham called a slate blue cocoon dress a modern look for the red carpet – eh, we kind of doubt it. But another gown with glass shard embroidery might do the trick.

Best of all: the rich red tunic dress that featured plunging V’s front and back. Beckham said, “It was a nightmare” to construct. We think it’s a dream.
