Figs are small and hard; what to do?

Hi John: That's typical for newly planted figs (mine produced walnut-sized, hard fruit for two years before producing an edible crop). While four years is a little long (three is usual), I wouldn't worry just yet, as your tree might have been younger when planted. If you're sure sunlight isn't the issue, then just let them be for another year and see how they do.
