Drums boomed, flags waved and proud residents marched on Memorial Day to honor the American men and women who died while serving in the military.

Residents also celebrated the unofficial start of summer with backyard barbecues and by relaxing with friends and family members on Long Island’s famed beaches. See photos from across the Island.
