It's fall, and that means Halloween is on the way, and that means places all around Long Island will be either celebrating or decorating or exhibiting. The Rise of the Jack O'Lanterns event at Old Westbury Gardens falls into all three categories.

Some of the most talented sculptors and artists in the area will be individually crafting Jack O’Lanterns and OWG will display thousands of the illuminated works of art on a long and winding trail. On the opening night of the exhibit, Friday, Oct. 5, Andy Gertler, a world-renowned sculptor and star of the Travel Channel’s Sand Masters program, will give a carving demonstration.

Admission for the exhibit is $16 for adults (ages 18-64), $14 for children (ages 5-17) and seniors (ages 65+), and free for those younger than 4.  Tickets must be purchased in advance for specific dates and times by visiting therise.org. Parking will be free.

Entry to the exhibit, which will be on display during the weekends of Oct. 5-7, 19-21 and 26-28, is from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (Trail closes at 11:00 p.m.)

Update (9/26): Opening times have been changed to 7pm on the first weekend, and 6:30pm for the remaining weekends.
