Jewish High Holiday services on TV, online

Those who are unable to attend Jewish High Holiday services may want to tune in to Shalom TV, which will broadcast live Rosh Hashanah, Kol Nidrei and Yom Kippur services from Central Synagogue in Manhattan. The not-for-profit channel also will offer services on demand on its website round-the-clock for the 10 days.

Rabbi Mark S. Golub, president of Shalom TV, says offering the live services is a way to help Jews and non-Jews connect to the New Year.

"The reality is that the overwhelming majority of Jews are not synagogue-goers," Golub says. "However, the High Holidays touch the essence of the Jewish soul. There is a magnetic pull the Jewish soul feels to be in a synagogue in the presence of other Jews during the High Holidays."

Golub says services will be offered in Hebrew, in English transliteration and also translated into English.
