Love roses? The Long Island Rose Society will be celebrating its 55th anniversary at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library at 7 p.m. Friday. The program will include a presentation by Gus Prieser, a rosarian, American Rose Society judge of horticulture and founding member of the LIRS. 
There will even be birthday cake! 
Admission is free, and all are welcome.
