Kidsday: Editing videos in ITV club
ITV club -- Islip TV -- is a group of middle school students who edit videos that were shot by members of the journalism club. Now the journalism club people aren't the only ones who use the camera; the ITV club can make its own broadcasts as well.
We use a moviemaker computer program that takes about an afternoon to learn.
I like editing the videos. For me, this is the most fun. I like being behind the scenes, editing what other kids shoot. I don't want to be in front of the camera
Our club works closely with journalism students, and we try to have the videos make sense after we get all the footage that the other club members shoot.
For example, if one of the TV's anchors makes a mistake, the ITV club has to figure out how to cut out the mistake and make sure the video flows smoothly.
Comfortable or Stylish
When you go to school, is it more important to dress comfortably or to look stylish? I asked 51 kids in the seventh grade that question and here are the responses:
Stylish: 13
Comfortable: 38
As you can see, the kids in our school would rather be comfortable all day. They don't mind looking a little more relaxed as long as they feel good. It is a long school day, and comfort matters. To the kids who go with style, mostly girls voted for this, and they said they wanted to look good in front of their friends.
