Kidsday: Family fun on a golf cart
As far as I can remember, I've always enjoyed going to my grandparents' house in Aquebogue, especially when they got a golf cart. They have a very big yard, and farm fields in the back. My Grammy and I love to drive the golf cart to the fields and fill up our baskets with fresh vegetables that we pick ourselves. The dogs in our family go along for the ride, too.
In the back of the cart, there are two places where you can stand and strap yourself in while someone else is driving. My brother, Cole, and I have invited our friends for a ride, and they all think it's really cool. One of my favorite things to do is pack a snack and drive under the old pear tree in the backyard for a picnic.
We decorated the golf cart for every holiday. The best was the night of Cole's birthday, when we attached 50 glow sticks to the golf cart and drove it to the farm field when it was completely dark.
Who would have thought that you can have the most fun in a golf cart when you're not playing golf?
End cyber-bullying!
The Internet can be really fun and really bad at the same time. Kids can go on a fun website, but if they click on the wrong thing, it can be inappropriate, or even cause a virus. Kids can go on a chat website. The problem is, the Internet is like a permanent marker, or a stain on your shirt. Once you put it on there, accident or not, it stays on. If you call someone a mean name on the Internet, you can't get rid of it. This sort of stuff is called cyber-bullying. Cyber-bullying has been happening for a while. Parents or teachers can't control anything that happens on the Web, but you have to be careful. Kids are hurting themselves, even committing suicide, just because of this. Stop the hate. Stop the cyber-bullying!
