Kidsday: Helping kids with diabetes

My class has been together for two years. We looped up from third to fourth grade. Our teacher, Mrs. Therese O'Loughlin, has a nephew, Sean Boody, who is 11 years old. He came to our class to speak about juvenile diabetes and show us the insulin pumps that he has to wear. We painted pillowcases with fabric markers and put a stuffed animal and a book (from Kohl's) inside every case. We donated them to kids with juvenile diabetes at Winthrop Hospital. We are glad to make people smile with our pillowcases and books. I hope the books and pillowcases make them happy.

Game review: Disney Universe

I tested the video game Disney Universe (Wii). In this game, you have to try to defeat a pirate's ship. First, you choose a Disney character you like. Then, you play on a ship and try to destroy other ships a few times.

Also, you have to destroy the pirates on your ship to make it easier for you to pass the level. One thing you have to do is collect Mickey Mouse- shaped coins. At the end of each level, you get to rescue a Disney character out of a box.

Each level keeps getting harder and harder.

Rating: I give this toy 4 smiles out of 5 because it keeps getting more interesting and harder as you get to higher levels. Plus, kids will like the challenges.

Bonding over Mom's story

There is a new way a mom can tell the story of her life.

You just have to get the book "Mom Tell Me Your Story." It's a way of recording special moments in your mother's life, so she can share it with her kids.

It's a great way for a mother and her kids to bond. It was really interesting to hear my mom's childhood stories and stories of when I was born. It's something I will cherish forever. Memories are special.

It's a great way to have a fun time with your mom.
