Kidsday: Tricks to becoming a magician
We checked out the book and kit "The Complete Magician: Everything You Need to Put on a Show," by Joshua Jay (Workman Publishing). This kit will make you a magician. Once you hold the kit, you will become part of it. "But a long journey starts with the first step." Ever heard that? Well, it's the same for this magic kit. If you go step by step, in time you will find out that you have become a true magician. Just be patient!
There are more than 100 tricks to learn in the book and it comes with a DVD that shows you step by step how to perform and perfect about 35 of them.
It even comes with some props to help get you started. Even if the trick you want to perform is not on the DVD, there are plenty of pictures in the book to help you learn it. We especially liked the trick the Invisible Deck, which you perform with a deck of cards. It is so easy to learn, and it will amaze your friends.
If you love magic and have always wondered how some of the most classic tricks worked or were performed, or you have always wanted to learn some magic tricks to amaze and confound your friends and family, you should definitely pick up this kit. We would rate it 5 out of 5 mystical stars!
Dear Kidsday
DEAR KIDSDAY: I am a 10-year-old girl and I think my teacher doesn't like me. In fact, I think she hates me. What should I do?
-- Hated
DEAR HATED: It just might be your imagination, but we think you need to have a talk with your teacher right away. There are too many months left in the school year for you to worry about this. Find out what you can do to make things better in the classroom. We also think you should see how others are being treated by this teacher. If it doesn't work, ask your parents to come in and talk with the teacher, too.
