Learn how to grow herbs

I love walking past my herb garden during summer, when the scents of lemon, pineapple, chocolate and sage fill the air. The funny thing is that sage is the only plant that smells true to itself. The lemon, pineapple and chocolate come from mint, basil, and other unlikely characters.
You can learn about them and how to grow them yourself at Clark Botanic Gardens at 10 a.m. Saturday, when I'll be giving a lesson on growing herbs.
The Gardens also will be holding their annual auxiliary spring plant sale tomorrow, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., selling plants, flowers, trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, hanging baskets, vegetables and yes, herbs.
Other "Green Gardening" talks will be held throughout the day, given by master gardeners from the Cornell Cooperative Extension.
The event runs rain or shine, and admission is free.
