65thSHIRLEY AND ARNOLD TURKUS of Fresh Meadows were wed Feb. 16, 1947. They met in October 1942. In 1943 Arnold joined the Army and served three years in combat, including at the Battle of the Bulge. Shirley worked in the administration at Queensboro Community College for 17 years. Arnold worked with his father and brother manufacturing fine jewelry. They have two children, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. On Jan. 19 Arnold was given the Legion of Honor medal by the French government for his service in World War II.
60thMARILYN AND MARVIN SACKS, residents of Plainview, were wed Feb. 10, 1952. They celebrated with Plainview-Old Bethpage seniors at the Town of Oyster Bay Valentine's party. They were thankful Marvin was able to celebrate after being involved in a serious auto accident in February 2011. Marvin is retired from Loral Electronics and served in the Korean War and is an artist. Marilyn is president of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Senior Club and retired from commercial and industrial real estate. They have two children and four grandchildren.
50thKATHLEEN AND RAY SCHMALZ of Aquebogue were wed March 25, 1962, at the Church of the Assumption in Centereach. Ray retired from Chase Bank and now works part-time, and Kathleen is a retired registered nurse. They met as students at Port Jefferson High School. They have two children and four granddaughters.
50thSHIRLEY AND ARNIE LENDIN of Nesconset were wed Feb. 25, 1962. They celebrated with family at a local restaurant. Arnie is a retired tugboat captain, and Shirley is a homemaker. They both love traveling and dining out. They have three children and six grandchildren.
35thLINDA AND VINCENT
MADONIA of Westbury were wed Feb. 27, 1977. Vincent served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and worked for Pan Am and was also involved in the recovery on 9/11. He retired from the New York City Transit Authority. Linda met Vincent at her first job as a bank manager and currently works for the Wedding Salon of Manhasset as a bookkeeper. They enjoy traveling and going on cruises. They have two children. Vincent has a daughter from a previous marriage and a granddaughter.
