One wedding detail that may be small in size but huge in cost are bouquets. Sure, fresh flowers may look beautiful as you and your bridesmaids walk down the aisle, but is the price tag worth it? Some brides don’t think so.
Jessica Lehry Bishop, founder of The Budget Savvy Bride, weighs in on why women are ditching the traditional bouquet and opting for a fresh alternative.
“More and more creative and budget-savvy brides are seeking out alternatives to fresh flowers for their wedding bouquets because, although they can be absolutely stunning, they can also be very pricey. Plus, they can typically only be enjoyed for a few days post-wedding.”
If you’re looking to save some green but still want a bouquet that really wows your guests, try one of these alternatives:
Brooches or pins
A great way to incorporate the women in your life is to ask that they all bring one pin or brooch with them to your bridal shower. Gather them and arrange them into one uniform bouquet. A bouquet like this may mean more to you than any type of floral arrangement, and is something that can be looked at as an heirloom for future generations.
Book pages
For all the book lovers out there, create paper flowers from the pages of your favorite love story. Or, take it one step further and turn sheet music from the songs that mean most to you and your groom-to-be. Not only is this an inexpensive option, it’s also a sweet and sentimental one.
Buttons
For the crafty, DIY bride, choosing buttons can be a quirky and fun way to incorporate your personality into your bouquet. Choose buttons that could really stand out, whether that means in color or size, and artfully arrange them into one uniform bouquet. This is a cheap--but chic-- way to keep your budget low.
