If you’re looking to adopt an animal this holiday season, this weekend might be the best time.

Long Island celebrities Howard and Beth Stern, with North Shore Animal League America and a small group of friends, have created a fund enabling the shelter to waive adoption fees this Friday through Sunday.

All approved pet parents will get to choose from the no-kill shelter’s nearly 300 puppies, kittens, dogs and cats of all ages and breeds, and take a new family member home for free. The animals were rescued from the Tri-State area and across the country.

The adoption event takes place at North Shore Animal League America in Port Washington Friday, Dec. 9 through Sunday, Dec. 11 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
