Pet cat saved from Levittown house fire

A propane-powered grill caused a small fire in Levittown Tuesday night, sending one of the homeowners to Nassau University Medical Center with smoke inhalation, the Levittown Fire Department said.
Firefighters responded to a call at 6:13 p.m. about a blaze in the attached garage of a home on Hickory Lane, chief Charles Guidice said.
Guidice said the fire started when the homeowners were grilling outside, under the overhang of the garage roof.
A portion of the overhang apparently caught fire and spread into the garage area.
The fire was contained to the garage and was under control in just a few minutes, Guidice said.
One of the homeowners was transported to Nassau University Medical Center for minor smoke inhalation.
Firefighter Frank Caccioli also removed a pet cat from the home after the fire was brought under control, Guidice said.
