FAMOUS IN LAKE SUCCESS

You might recognize this Lake Success home from the movies -- it was featured in the 1996 Whitney Houston film "The Preacher's Wife," also starring Denzel Washington.

Houston never shot a scene at the house, which is on the market for $5.88 million. But the sellers say she did spend a day at the house during filming, which lasted three to four weeks. Washington appeared in scenes filmed in the living room, dining room and outside.

The white stucco Neoclassic home also has been featured on USA's "Royal Pains," advertisements and commercials for Jimmy Choo and Budweiser and the first-ever episode of MTV's "Cribs."

The 2.25-acre property has a heated pool in the backyard, where there are two cooking stations -- one with a wood-burning pizza oven and the other with a grilling station. The spread includes an outdoor bar with a TV, speakers, a cooler, a soda gun, a dishwashers, a sink and a kegerator.

The home is listed with Nelson Leong and Frank Yen Mo of East Coast Realtors.-- VALERIE KELLOGG

LLOYD NECK BEACH LOT

Beach lovers, how sweet would it be to have a stretch of sand to call your own? Well, for a cool $67,000, it can happen.

That's the asking price of a beach lot with rights on the western side of the Lloyd Neck peninsula, which overlooks Long Island Sound. The lot, which is not buildable, is .25- acre with 21 feet of waterfront.

"It's an opportunity to have your own getaway to a private beach in a very exclusive part of Long Island," says listing agent Janine Gleusner of Signature Premier Properties in Cold Spring Harbor. Gleusner also points out it's a nice spot to fish and clam. -- LISA DOLL BRUNO

A $34,900 COTTAGE

Think finding a summer retreat on Long Island at a reasonable price is impossible? Then check out this Baiting Hollow cottage that just came on the market for $34,900 -- furniture included!

The 1960 cottage is in Woodcliff Park, a private beachfront community that's open from April 15 to Oct. 15. The community "is a great place, very family-friendly" says homeowner and listing agent Maureen Horan of Century 21 Dallow Realty in Farmingdale.

Horan, who spent her childhood summering at her parents' home in the same community, purchased the cottage with her husband about 12 years ago. The couple has entirely renovated the house within the past decade. It has two bedrooms, a full bath, kitchen and living room. Taxes are $1,035 and land fees are about $4,800 a year, Horan says.

"You own the home," she explains, "but the land is leased."

Community amenities include a recreation hall, children's playground, basketball court and laundry room. The Splish Splash water park, Tanger Outlets and various wineries are within a short drive.-- MARY BETH FOLEY
