Running is at the top of popular sports on Long Island. Runners by the hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of all ages and abilities step up to starting lines almost every weekend morning.

ST. BRIGID/OUR LADY OF HOPE 5K RUN & WALK

JINGLE BELL 5K RUN/WALK

SEAFORD WELLNESS HOT CHOCOLATE RUN/WALK

TOUGH COOKIE 8K TRAIL RACE

A challenging and hilly course, featuring raffles and holiday cookies, registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Benefits the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference. Fee $30. Date 10 a.m. Dec. 7.
A BACKYARD ULTRA

Competitors will consecutively run the distance of 6706 meters (4.167 miles) in less than one hour, event continues until one participant is remaining, benefits the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference. HO HO HO 5K RUN

JINGLE ALL THE WAY 5K
