Where to rent a boat, Jet Ski and more on Long Island

You can take advantage of Long Island’s waters — without the expense of upkeep — by renting a watercraft from an outfitter. You'll want to call ahead for availability and an understanding of age and other requirements.

NASSAU

BRIDGE MARINE

• Season May 28-October. 
• Requirements Older than 21, with boating experience for powerboats; driver’s license required.

TED’S FISHING STATION

• Offers 16-foot skiffs with 8-HP motors, full and half days. Gasoline, diesel fuel and oil, bait and tackle, food truck, ice available. Rods and reels for rent. The Shell Shack opens May 17-Sept. 8, 3 p.m.-10 p.m. Mon.-Fri., 1 p.m.-10 p.m. Sat.-Sun. 
• Fees $199 full day (7 a.m.-4 p.m.) includes life jackets for four and gas and brief lesson; $159 half-day (4 hours), $109 (2 hours). Pole rental $15.

THE WATERFRONT CENTER

• Offers Junior Summer Program consists of full- and half-day summer programs for children, paddle classes and rentals, sailboat classes and rentals. Christeen oyster sloop harbor tours. Sailboat rentals: Sonar ($150/3 hrs.), Hobie Getaway ($90/2 hrs.), Hobie Wave ($80/2 hrs.); single kayak ($32), double kayak ($40) and stand-up paddleboard ($35). Rentals for kayaks/SUP are 1 1/2 hours.

Lessons, one-on-one 75 mins for $95. Weekend and weekly rates available; Fire Island rates: $350 two paddleboards for three days.
