Tee up — and off — at a host of public golf courses that are open to all. Hours listed are for peak season play, weather permitting.
Best bets for golf courses
- For longer courses: Middle Island Country Club in Middle Island has 27 holes.
For shorter courses: Gull Haven in Central Islip, Peninsula Golf Club in Massapequa and Bay Park in East Rockaway all have nine holes.
For year-round golfing: Merrick Road Park in Merrick and Cherry Creek Golf Links in Riverhead are open all year.
