Bring your sense of exploration when you visit one of these sculpture gardens where "art and landscape evolve together," says Einav Dembin, director of education at the Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn Harbor. 

Nassau County Museum of Art

The museum's sculpture garden boasts over 40 works by established artists, including Fernando Botero, Mark di Suvero, Richard Serra, Chaim Gross, Tom Otterness and Masayuki Nagare. This collection of modern and contemporary artworks spans over a century.

  • THINGS TO DO The museum is home to art exhibitions, nature trails, an arboretum, art classes, creative workshops, family programs, youth art education and mansion tours.
  • COST Arboretum, trails and sculpture garden are free. Entry to the mansion is $15, $5 ages 12 and under.
  • HOURS Open Tuesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., closed on Mondays.

LongHouse Reserve

Visitors can explore curated gardens and outdoor art installations, including a sculpture garden with more than 60 creations.

  • THINGS TO DO LongHouse Reserve offers a range of arts and wellness programs, including Walking Meditation, Sound Baths, Tai Chi, Tours of the Garden, artist and author talks, concerts, performances, and more. Upcoming events: 5 p.m. June 20: Hamptons Pride Celebration; 6 p.m. June 27: Beautopia! Summer Benefit, including an after-party with dancing under the stars; 6 p.m. Aug. 8: Llewellyn Sánchez-Werner-Jack’s Birthday Concert; 5 p.m. Aug. 20-23: Neo-Political Cowgirls' "MacBeth."

Guild Hall

158 Main St., East Hampton

The center is both a museum and a performing arts and education center, with its own sculptures in the garden. A standout sculpture on display is Tony Rosenthal’s "Cube 72," a 90-inch square that spins on its axis. Rosenthal once called the East End home, and he gifted the sculpture to Guild Hall.

  • THINGS TO DO Guild Hall’s theater hosts over 200 programs year-round, from musical theater to children’s circus arts to panel discussions.

Long Island Museum

1200 Rte. 25A, Stony Brook

One standout sculpture is Atlas (2015), a kinetic sculpture by artist Drew Klotz. Another outdoor highlight is an 1880 fountain and horse trough, originally placed in New York City, serving as a water source for people and horses.

  • THINGS TO DO Visitors also can explore four galleries that showcase rotating art and history exhibitions. The 9-acre campus also includes a carriage museum, art installations, a fountain garden and historic buildings, including a one-room schoolhouse and an 18th-century barn. Upcoming events include free film screenings, free "Art in the Garden" educator-led tours of the outdoor grounds and sculptures, and more. Sagaponack Sculpture Field

Wilkes Lane, Sagaponack

Art dealer Louis K. Meisel’s privately owned sculpture field has been donated by Louis and Susan Meisel to the Parrish Art Museum. It remains a 2-acre gem in the middle of Sagaponack with free public visiting and viewing.
