The winds of winter are still whipping as the warm weather seems so far away. Bring a taste of summer to the season. Here are five activities that can inject some summer fun into February.

CATCH A WAVE AT SCOTT'S POINTE

5835 Middle Country Rd., Calverton

The beaches may be closed but that doesn’t mean you can’t surf. Head to Scott’s Pointe where there is an indoor wave pool that creates a quarter pipe wave.

"The wave is made by four 450-horsepower pumps that move the water over a stainless-steel form covered with four inches of a wrestling mat that shapes the wave," co-owner Cody Scott says. "There are two instructors with you at all times teaching you how to surf or bodyboard."

Take a break from all the pressures of life at this spa, which offers a salt cave, infrared sauna, cold plunge, floatation therapy and personal massage.

The floatation therapy involves a tank filled with 1,000 pounds of Epsom salt, which makes it very dense and buoyant causing you to float on top of the water.

"The water is heated to the same temperature as your skin," owner James Michaels says. "If you turn the lights off, it’s almost like you are floating in outer space."

The Salt Cave is an entire room lined with Himalayan salt on the walls and the floor. There’s even a machine that grinds up pharmaceutical grade salt into dust.

"It’s like spending a week at the beach," Michaels says. "The salt helps with congestion, allergies, headaches, sinus pressure, inflammation and arthritis."

  • WHEN Open daily 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. (Sundays until 7 p.m.)

  • COST Floatation therapy: $78 for 60 minutes, massage: $148 for 60 minutes, salt cave therapy: $34 for 45 minutes, infrared sauna: $34 for 45 minutes, cold plunge: $34 for 30 minutes

It might be chilly outside, but the campgrounds are going year-round at Cathedral Pines County Park in Middle Island.

"We are open during the winter for self-contained camping only," Hillary Hoffman, public relations assistant for Suffolk County Parks, says. "It must be with an RV that meets our self-contained rules like it must have a 5-gallon fresh water holding tank and a flushable toilet. There’s no tent camping in the winter."
