Where to play pitch and putt

The sport of pitch and putt, played over 18 holes with two irons and a putter on a shorter course than traditional golf, is gaining popularity in the United States. Here are some places to play in Nassau and Suffolk.
Season: 9 a.m.-various times through mid-October, weather permitting.
18 holes, course, concession stand; children and adult beginner and also adult intro to golf lessons and new basic golf programs, call parks office for fees and schedule: 631-893-2100. Fee: $7 town residents, $8 nonresidents, $5 older than 60.
Season: March 31-Nov. 25 daily, hours vary. Fee: $7, $6 juniors and seniors, club rental $2 plus $3 deposit, parking additional.
Season: May 15-Nov. 18 daily, hours vary. Fee: $11, $9 juniors and seniors, club rentals $2 plus $3 deposit (parking additional). Opening may be delayed due to superstorm Sandy, call.
