Shoppers, unite. Partyers, get together. And you, the one who just likes sushi, come over, too.

110 Japan, the sprawling successor to East Buffet and Best Buffet opposite Walt Whitman Shops, arrives just in time for the holiday season. More important, the food is good.

Fancified, illuminated and dressed to impress, the big restaurant has a something-for-everyone approach and menu. The stylized lounge has horseshoe-shaped banquettes fine for small groups; the main dining room, tables for diners who'd like a more serene scene; and the hibachi area, with spatulas clanging, provides a show.

The raw fish and the cooked fare compete amiably. The presentations can be eye-catching and the flavors, while neither bold nor subtle, are fresh and find that middle ground to satisfy a broad audience. The spot seats at least 350.

Good choices include the traditional nigirizushi and the marinated seaweed salad. Fluke tiradito skips the spiciness that defines the Peruvian dish but, in its mild way, is respectable, finished with avocado aioli and a mint leaf. The tuna ravioli and the tuna pizza, however, are lost in translation.

Service is attentive and brisk. You'll be able to make the nighttime sales across the street.
