A & S Bagels of Franklin Square, featured in local media for its kettle-boiled and baked kosher bagels made the old-fashioned way, was picked Thursday as one of the nation’s 20 best producers of the New York classic.

The website MSN.com, which addressed Peyton Manning’s future and Cher’s new look, amazing Grammy moments, and Burt Reynolds turning 80, made the announcement.

MSN.com cited other websites, such as Yelp and TripAdvisor, which poll public opinion, and factored in methods to ensure accuracy, cutting anything deemed promotional.

The A & S lineup includes fresh and frozen, cooked and not, and at least 20 varieties. They’re also available in minis. The cost per dozen bagels is $9.60. A & S is open 24/7.

A & S is at 761 Hempstead Tpke., Franklin Square; 516-326-9288, aandsbagels.com
