Aiko Asian Bistro opened Wednesday in Melville at the former address of Kenta, just off Route 110. It’s the offspring of Aiko Sushi and Bar on Main Street in Port Washington.
The new restaurant offers an ambitious, wide-ranging menu that includes Japanese, Chinese and Thai specialties. There’s an extensive selection of familiar and more exotic sushi rolls. Lunch dishes are in the $9 to $16 range. At dinner, main courses are $14 to $25. Omakase, or chef’s choice dinners, are $100, $150, $200 and $300.
Overall, the bistro’s cuisine takes in fare such as coconut seafood chowder, satays, chicken lettuce wraps, calamari “steak,” tuna poke, Kobe meatballs, king crab pizza, steamed sea bass, General Tso’s chicken, orange beef, pad thai, Kumamoto oysters tataki, seafood-stuffed avocado, and traditional sushi and sashimi.
