Amicale, which overhauled the former Panama Hatties a year ago and earned a three-star rating in Newsday, has closed.

A court notice citing rent arrears, dated yesterday,  was posted on the front door of the Huntington Station eatery, even as signs advertising specials remained in place.

Amicale had been praised for its updated continental fare, handsome setting and service. But the number of Long Island restaurants specializing in continental cuisine, which for decades defined fine dining here, has been declining for years.

The Jericho Turnpike restaurant had expanded and upgraded the catering rooms at the address, in addition to redesigning the primary dining rooms. Panama Hatties, the New American restaurant, held a four-rating for more than a decade.

Frogs' legs were a special at Amicale.
